Kereon leads €500,000 round for Didáctica
Venture capital firm Kereon Partners has led a €500,000 funding round for Spanish education platform Didáctica Digital.
The deal saw existing investor Kereon, owner of a 45.36% stake in the business, lead the round alongside previous backers. These include Spanish investment holding company Interalios with a 37% stake, and high-net-worth individual Domingo Alamany with a 6.13% stake.
Other previous backers Caixa Captial Risk, owner of a 3.32% stake, and the company's co-founder Rafael Villalón did not re-up as part of the round.
According to local press reports, the company aims to use the capital injection to boost the launch of its proprietary mobile application for both Android and iOS devices, as well as bolster its marketing strategy. Furthermore, the company's management intends to expand the business into Latin America.
Previous funding
In June 2015, Kereon led a €1.05m funding round for the company, acquiring a 40% stake in the business for €600,000 from the company's co-founders Antoni and Alex Zanuy. As part of the deal, Interalios injected a €350,000 equity ticket, while Caixa Capital Risk provided €100,000 of fresh capital.
Company
Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Barcelona, Didáctica develops an online platform focused on the education sector. The company produces and sells educational material to schools and private individuals.
The business reportedly posted €220,000 in revenues in 2015 and expects to generate a turnover of €450,000 in 2016.
