
Trident leads $14m series-A for 4iQ
US venture capital firm Trident Capital Cybersecurity has led a $14m series-A round for Spanish cyber risk intelligence business 4iQ, alongside Adara Ventures and Telefónica Open Future.
The deal saw Trident lead the capital injection alongside Spanish venture capital houses Adara Ventures and Telefónica Open Future (part of telecoms group Telefónica), through its Fondo Corporativo Telefónica Ventures. As part of the deal, Alberto Yepez, co-founder and managing director at Trident, will join the company's board as chairperson.
Telefónica intends to co-operate with the targeted company to bolster the cybersecurity strategy of its ElevenPaths product.
According to press reports, the company intends to use the capital injection to boost its product development, as well as expand across Germany, the UK, France, Mexico and Portugal.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Madrid, 4iQ develops a cyber risk intelligence platform for defence and law enforcement agencies, as well as security service providers, critical infrastructure companies and corporates. Its platform allows clients to monitor the external environment and protect their proprietary information, brands and infrastructures from cyber fraud.
The business recently opened an office in Palo Alto in the US.
