Castik-backed Alpega bolts on WTransnet
Castik Capital-backed Alpega, a Belgium-based logistics software company, has acquired Spanish freight exchange business WTransnet.
Ardian provided additional financing to Alpega to support the company's add-on.
With the acquisition of WTransnet, Alpega will be able to access a wider market in Europe and expand its shipment capabilities for all freight exchanges in the group, according to a statement.
This is the second bolt-on inked by Alpega in 2018, following the acquisition of Swedish freight procurement software company TenderEasy, made in January to expand the company's portfolio with the addition of software brands Inet and Transwide.
Castik acquired Alpega (then Wolters Kluwer Transport Services) in a carve-out in June 2017 for a cash consideration of approximately €82m. Ardian arranged a senior debt package to support the deal. The company specialises in logistics software covering all transport needs, including transportation management and freight exchanges.
Company
Founded in 1996 and based in Terrassa, near Barcelona, WTransnet specialises in freight and truck exchange in Spain and Portugal. The company also has a presence in Italy, France and Germany, employs 150 people and has approximately 11,500 customers.
