Indico, All Iron Ventures lead €5m series-A for Barkyn
Indico Capital Partners and All Iron Ventures have led a €5m series-A funding round for Barkyn, a Portuguese pet food and veterinary startup.
Portugal Ventures and 200M Fund also took part in the investment.
The company intends to use the fresh financing to further develop its own line of branded products, as well as boost its expansion across the Portuguese market and internationally.
Previous funding
Following an initial round of around €1m, the startup raised €1.7m in April 2019 in a seed round led by Indico Capital, with participation from All Iron Ventures, Shilling Capital Partners and 7 Graus.
Company
Founded in 2017 and based in Porto, Barkyn offers a monthly subscription box of pet food, which can be customised based on a pet's specific dietary needs and preferences, and an online dedicated vet that users can contact 24/7.
Its product offering includes a wide variety of food, snacks and diet supplements for pets.
The company employs 35 staff and has served around 40,000 clients across Portugal, Spain and Italy since inception.
