CDP Venture Capital leads €15m series-C for Wise
CDP Venture Capital has led a €15m series-C funding round for Milan-based neuromodulation specialist Wise.
CDP Venture Capital deployed €3.5m. Indaco Ventures I and Eureka Venture also took part in the round, alongside previous backers Principia, New Frontier, Atlante Seed and Atlante Ventures, High Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and F3F.
Wise intends to use the fresh capital to accelerate the development of its second product, SCS Expert, an expandable percutaneous multi-column paddle lead for spinal cord stimulation that will be used in the neuromodulation treatment of chronic pain.
The funds will also support the upcoming launch of Wise's first product, Wise Cortical Strip (WCS), a single-use medical device for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during brain tumor and epilepsy surgeries.
Previous funding
Atlante Seed, Agite!, HTGF and BtoV Partners invested €1m in a seed round for Wise in 2013.
Subsequently, Principia, Atlante Ventures, F3F, Antares, HTGF, Atlante Seed and BtoV led a €3m round for the company in 2015.
More recently, Agite!, Atlante Seed and Atlante Ventures, BtoV, HTGF, Principia, New Frontier and several private investors invested in a €6.5m funding round to support the company in 2017.
In addition, Wise received €2.3m in January 2020 from the European Commission, within the EIC Accelerator programme of Horizon 2020.

Wise develops and manufactures biocompatible, foldable, stretchable and minimally invasive implantable leads for neuromonitoring, neuromodulation and brain-machine interfacing.
