Siparex increases focus on Italian market
Siparex has raised €50m for its latest vehicle, Siparex Investimenti 2, in partnership with Fondo Italiano di Investimento.
The vehicle will invest in Italian SMEs and will be managed by a team based in Milan. The team includes Tomaso Barbini, former managing director at Rothschild Italia; Andrea Gianola, former partner at Investitori Associati; and Alessandro Bellia, current managing director of Siparex Italia.
Siparex has experience in the Italian market, following its 2008 fund Siparex Italia.
Siparex's Italian investments includes TecMo, a parts manufacturer for plasma and laser metal cutting equipment; and Vimec, a manufacturer of elevating equipment for the mobility impaired.
The GP announced plans for its latest venture with Fondo Italiano in February, when it closed its latest mid-market vehicle on €200m.
Fondo Italiano recently announced the expansion of its fund-of-funds activity, thanks to a renewed commitment from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, its cornerstone investor.
Investors
Fondo Italiano di Investimento is understood to have made a commitment of up to €50m to the fund.
Investments
The fund will target SMEs and mid-market companies based in Italy.
