
Berrier Capital backs Ploonge
Italian private equity firm Berrier Capital has acquired a 25% stake in social dining site Ploonge, according to reports in the Italian press.
The founding shareholders retained their majority stake in the company.
The investment strategy aims to grow the company to 1.5 million users in the next 18 months and expand the network into major Italian and European cities.
The investment size is understood to be around €300,000.
Company
Ploonge is a social dining marketplace that allows users to create and host culinary events or attend dinners. Users are asked to register on the site, before either creating an event and setting a price for attendance, or searching for an event to attend. Restaurant owners are also invited to use the service. The company takes care of transaction fees, refunds and marketing. It charges a 20% service fee.
Ploonge has fewer than 10 members of staff and is based in Milan.
