Idea holds €140m second close, appoints L Capital's Bertoncello

The vehicle, which specifically targets assets in the food and agribusiness segment, was launched in January 2015 with a target of €200m.

The announcement comes two months after Idea joined HIG Capital in launching Idea CCR, a €600m fund for distressed Italian SMEs.

Idea has also announced the appointment of former L Capital investment director Andrea Bertoncello as managing director.

Bertoncello joined L Capital in 2006 and was responsible for portfolio management, in addition to deal origination and execution. He oversaw investments including in home furnishings company Calligaris, in which L Capital sold its 40% stake in a buy-back transaction in May 2014.

Investors
Across Idea's eight closed-ended funds, 53% of commitments come from institutional investors and 28% from private investors. The remaining 19% is provided by Dea Capital, the investment arm of Idea's parent group, De Agostini.

Investments
Idea Taste of Italy has already made its first investment by acquiring Brescia-headquartered La Piadineria, a fast-food chain selling filled piadine, an italian flatbread. Idea invested €14m as part of a €30m deal, with the company's management reinvesting for a minority stake in the business.
