Fondo Italiano backs Surgital with €11m
Fondo Italiano di Investimento has invested around €11m in frozen foods firm Surgital.
The GP acquired a stake of around 15% in exchange for the investment.
The company will use the fresh funding to expand its production facilities and pursue an acquisitive growth strategy.
Company
Founded in 1980 as a fresh pasta producer, Surgital is a frozen foods company based in Ravenna. The firm now produces frozen pasta, sauces and ready meals for hotels, restaurants and catering. It specifically aims to preserve nutrients in the freezing process.
Surgital employs around 200 members of staff and reported a turnover in excess of €50m in 2011, 67% of which originated in Italy. The company also has commercial ties with Germany and Great Britain.
