HgCapital backs Hidrodata
HgCapital has acquired a 29.25% stake in Catalan renewable energy firm Hidrodata for €14m from Invercartera Capital SCR.
The investment was made through the Hg Renewable Power Partners Fund, which closed on €300m in 2006.
Banco Sabadell retains its 45.75% stake and Copcisa holds a 25% stake in the company.
Previous funding
Hidrodata previously traded as Establecimientos Industriales y Servicios (Eissl) prior to its refinancing in 2011.
In April 2008, a consortium led by construction group Copcisa Catalan along with Banco Sabadell and Caixa Catalunya acquired renewable energy firm Eissl from Soldevila family. The company appointed JP Morgan to run the sales process.
In June 2011, Banco Sabadell acquired a further 19% stake in the company from construction group Copcisa, through its venture capital firm Sinia Renovables. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. Following the transaction Banco Sabadell owned 45.75% of the shares, Copcisa held 25% and CatalunyaCaixa, through Invercartera Energía, held 29.25%.
Company
Hidrodata produces wind, hydraulic, solar and biomass energy. The firm has 19 hydraulic production plants and 53MW in operation and plans to install a further 200MW worth of wind energy facilities in Tarragona and Lerida.
EISSL was founded in 1957 and the firm currently employs 27 people. The firm reports a €22m for 2010.
