
Mercapital makes €100m on Gasmedi sale
Mercapital has sold Spanish respiratory home therapies firm Gasmedi to French gas company Air Liquide for €330m.
The exit saw Mercapital reap a 2.4x multiple and capital gains of more than €100m.
Air Liquide supplies gases to the industrial, health and environmental sectors and is present in 80 countries. The acquisition will strengthen the group's presence in international markets.
Previous funding
In 2006, Mercapital acquired a 70% stake in the company for €76m.
Company
Founded in 1996 and based in Madrid, Gasmedi provides respiratory home therapies and medical gases to hospitals.
The firm currently serves 125,000 patients and reports an annual turnover of €82m, twice the figure reported at the time of the original acquisition in 2006. Mercapital grew the firm by extending its range of products and services and focusing on international expansion.
