Star Capital SGR holds first closing
Italian investor Star Capital SGR has held a first closing on more than €70m for Star III, a fund aiming to back Italian SMEs.
National state-backed private equity house Fondo Italiano di Investimento has contributed to the vehicle, marking its eleventh investment in Italian funds.
Star Capital SGR manages five investment funds and has €170m under management. The firm typically invests €4–20m in growth and buyout transactions.
Investors
Besides Fondo Italiano, international institutional investors – including the European Investment Fund – have also contributed to the vehicle.
Investments
The fund will back Italian SMEs with capital to support plans for national and international expansion through organic and acquisitive growth.
