Investindustrial exits Contenur
Investindustrial has exited plastic urban waste containers producer Contenur to Miura Private Equity and Demeter Partners of France.
The divestment is Investindustrial's seventh in 24 months, amounting to a total of €1.1bn.
The exit completes the investment programme of Investindustrial II, a €323m fund that closed in 2000.
Previous funding
In 1998, 3i acquired a majority stake in the company for €18.23m. In 2005, Investindustrial acquired a 65% shareholding in Contenur from 3i. The management team bought the remaining 35% stake by reinvesting a substantial part of their proceeds. RBS provided a €30m debt package to support the transaction.
Company
Founded in 1985 and based in Madrid, Contenur produces plastic urban waste containers and operates related maintenance services in Europe. The firm has recently established a presence in Eastern Europe and opened a factory in Poland.
The company has employed a further 150 members of staff under Investindustrial's ownership, bringing total staff numbers to 538. Contenur reported a €75m turnover in 2011, up from €58m in 2004.
