Ambene (Spain) - Nov 2007

French buyout house Demeter and CIC investments have made a €10m investment into renewable energy provider Ambene. This is the first round of investment in the company by the backers. The deal took nine months to close after the initial approach by Ambene. This is the third investment conducted by Demeter in Spain, following a recent deal with Eurener a manufacturer of photovoltaic and with 3S – Soluciones y Sistemas Solares a installer of solar thermal solutions in early 2007.

Company

Bajadoz-based Ambene develops and manages thermal power stations employing biomass to generate electricity. The company possesses an integrated production chain, from the energy-producing crops to the distribution of the electricity through an interconnected network. The firm is working in partnership with the Soldevila Group through Solambene a 7.5MW biomass power station in Bajadoz (Extramadura) capable of producing 50 million Kwh.
