
Vei Capital buys stake in Rina
Vei Capital has joined forces with Intesa Sanpaolo to buy a stake in Rina, an Italian engineering, testing, inspection and certification services provider, for €25m.
The initial investment may rise to €100m via subsequent capital increases and acquisition finance.
The fresh funding will support the firm's internationalisation process. The new owners have a possible listing in mind for an eventual exit.
Vei is the private equity arm of investment firm Palladio Finanziaria. The GP makes investments of €20-125m in mid-market companies. Vei raised €513m in 2010 and is around 60% committed.

Founded in 1861 in Genova, Rina specialises in classification, certification, testing, inspection, training and consulting engineering services. Its clients operate in the shipping, energy, transport, infrastructure and environmental sectors.
The firm provides its services through companies dedicated to each specific sector. It has a network of 163 offices in 57 countries and more than 2,500 employees. Turnover stands at more than €320m.
