
Fondo Italiano backs General Medical Merate
Fondo Italiano di Investimento has injected €13m into radiology equipment producer General Medical Merate in exchange for a minority stake.
The Sordi family will retain the remaining shares in the company.
The investment will support the acquisitive growth of the company, and a heavier focus on research and development.
Fondo Italiano is expected to close a further two investments imminently.
Company
Founded in 1952 and based in Seriate, Merate produces traditional and digital radiology diagnostic equipment. Products include remote-controlled radiographic units, specialised complete units and suspended units.
The firm employs around 250 members of staff and reported a €68m turnover in 2011, 70% of which originated abroad.
