Nauta subscribes to €4.5m Yuilop round
Nauta Capital has participated in a €4.5m series-A funding round for portfolio company Yuilop, a Spanish smartphone software developer.
Co-investment was provided by German venture capital firm Shortcut, Russian VC Bright Capital and a private investor.
The funding round will underpin the company's international expansion and product development.
Previous funding
Nauta invested €1m in Yuilop in 2011 in exchange for a minority stake. The investment was made through the Nauta Tech Invest III fund.
Company
Founded in Murcia in 2010, Yuilop has developed a communications app that allows smartphone users to text and instant message each other for free. The platform is soon to offer free calls.
Yuilop currently operates in Spain and Germany, and is looking to expand into the UK, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Brazil and Mexico. The firm is headquartered in Barcelona.

Carles Ferrer is general partner at Nauta. Martin Ostermayer is CEO of Shortcut and will join the Yuilop board alongside Vadim Tarasov, investment director at Bright Capital. Jochen Doppelhammer is the founder of Yuilop.
