Greece's Locish raises seed funding
Locish, a Greek mobile app developer, has raised $820,000 in a seed financing round led by Odyssey Venture Partners.
The fresh capital will be used to overhaul the firm's app functionality and create a new brand for the company. Further hires will also be made.
Odyssey invested via Odyssey Jeremie Partners fund, an ICT-focused fund that backs Greek start-ups. Greece-focused Jeremie Open Fund II also participated in the round, alongside three Silicon Valley angel investors.
Company
Locish initially launched its app in March 2013, intending to offer travellers personalised recommendations provided by locals. The company then realised that locals were also interested in using the app to discover nearby places of interest. As such, the app has widened its community of users to connect those looking for new places through real-time recommendations.
The new version of the app will launch in New York, San Francisco and Athens in May.
People
Thanasis Kalekos and Spyros Trachanis are managing partners at Odyssey.
