Rome-based Caffè Fantini was founded in the 1960s and specialises in the production and distribution of coffee blends to the hotel and restaurant sectors. The company owns two registered brands: Caffè Fantini and Roman roasting company Caffè Filippetti, acquired in the 1990s. In 2007 the company reported a €6.7m turnover and an EBITDA of €100,000. In 2008 sales are expected to increase to €8.9m while the EBITDA is projected at €500,000. The financial sponsors plan to increase the distribution of the brand through the expansion of the commercial network. The backers have also acquired a position on the board which will be held by Albo Francesconi. As an exit strategy, the investors foresee selling their stake either back to the Fantini family or to a secondary investor.
