
Mercapital exits Bodegas Lan
Spanish private equity house Mercapital has sold Spanish wine producer Bodegas Lan to Portuguese wine group Sogrape.
The new owners will back the international expansion of the firm and develop further distribution channels.
Previous funding
Mercapital acquired a majority stake in Bodegas Lan in 2002.
Company
Founded in 1972 and based in Rioja Alta, Bodegas Lan produces high-quality Rioja, Rías Bajas, Rueda and Ribera del Duero wines.
Under Mercapital's management, the firm has expanded its management team, broadened its product range and developed its international presence, particularly in the US and Latin America.
