Investec hires HSBC's Burgess

Tom Burgess has joined Investec's corporate & acquisition finance team to work on origination and execution of private debt services across Europe.
Based in the team's London office, Burgess will focus on non-sponsor deals, building Investec's direct-to-corporate offering.
Prior to joining, Burgess spent four years at HSBC, where he grew the bank's mid-market financial sponsors business across a wide range of sectors and jurisdictions. Before that, he worked at Rabobank where he structured European large-cap sponsor-backed transactions.
The appointment follows that of Galina Markova from SMBC in June, and Connor McMahon and Megan Chavkin in 2017.
Since its inception in 2012, Investec's corporate and acquisition finance team has grown to 15 members, providing financing solutions to support private equity and corporate clients in growth efforts across Europe. Investec originates and structures around £1bn of debt finance each year across 50 mid-market transactions.
