Gibson Dunn appoints two Ashurst partners
Law firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has appointed Ashurst’s Charlie Geffen and Mark Sperotto as partners in its London office.
Geffen joins after more than 23 years as a partner at Ashurst, having been promoted to senior partner in 2009. He originally joined the firm in 1982 and oversaw the firm's expansion from a European-based practice to a global one.
At Gibson Dunn, Geffen will focus on global private equity transactions and M&A activity.
Sperotto, who was a corporate finance and private equity partner at Ashurst, will work on cross-border M&A, private equity and equity capital markets transactions. He joined Ashurst in 1996 and was managing partner of the firm's Italian practice between 2009 and 2011.
Sperotto advised Blackstone- and CVC-backed Merlin Entertainments on its £3.2bn flotation last year and Apollo on its acquisition of the Westbridge Hotel portfolio.
Geffen studied at Leicester University while Sperotto graduated from University of Cambridge.
In addition to the new appointments, Gibson Dunn has doubled its office floorspace in London to accommodate its expansion in the city.
