Balderton hires Amazon's Stephan as talent director

Balderton Capital has appointed Amazon’s Gilles Stephan as talent director.
In his new position, Stephan will help target new recruits for portfolio companies, promote Balderton's businesses as employers and lead a related programme of networking events.
Stephan leaves his role as head of 'next generation leaders' at Amazon, having joined the business in November 2012 as Europe talent acquisition director. During his time with the online retailer he worked on the business's expansion into eastern Europe, among other duties.
Prior to joining Amazon, Stephan spent six years with Dell as EMEA talent acquisition director for M&A, services, solutions and software.
The announcement comes shortly after Balderton relocated its head office to London's Kings Cross area, which is being promoted as a possible future technology hub.
Balderton also recently strengthened its focus on the French market by appointing Nicolas Debock as a dedicated principal for the country in October 2014.
