RBS in possible sale of European portfolio
Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is discussing a possible sale of its European private equity portfolio to Alpinvest Partners N.V.
The UK government controls around 83% of RBS. It received a substantial government bailout package in 2008, which forced the bank to consider the disposal of its non-core assets.
The sale is expected to produce an estimated €400m. It is also obligated to sell about 318 of its retail branches.
