Zeus Private Equity changes name to Palatine
Zeus Private Equity has changed its name to Palatine Private Equity.
Palatine was launched in 2005 by Gary Tipper, Ed Fazakerley and Tony Dickin, who had previously worked together at Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity. The firm's maiden fund was raised £100m in December 2007 and has since been more than 50% invested.
The change in name follows the five-year anniversary and first exit for the firm. In September 2010, the sale of XLN Telecom generated a 4.5x return for Palatine and its investors. Companies currently in Palatine's portfolio include oil and gas recruitment company Air Energi, integrated services provider MJ Quinn, IT network service provider Electranet, and hotel chain Hallmark Hotels.
Palatine will continue its current investment strategy of investing in buyout and buy-and-build opportunities in the UK from its offices in Manchester, Bristol and London. According to Palatine, the investor is looking to start raising its second fund later this year.
