Ex-BVCA chair Nash becomes schools minister
Former British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) chair John Nash has been appointed schools minister.
With a long history in private equity, Nash had worked at Lazards and Advent Capital, and went on to found buy-and-build specialist Sovereign Capital.
Nash has been a major sponsor of the government's academies programme and runs a charity called Future, which supports a range of academies. Reports suggest he has agreed to avoid taking part in any decisions that might directly affect the charity's work.
Nash chaired the BVCA in 1988. He also founded Nash Sells and Partners in 1988, which later become Sovereign Capital in 2000.
