Denham relocates power and renewables team to London
US energy- and resources-focused private equity firm Denham Capital has relocated the headquarters of its power and renewables team to London to pursue opportunities in emerging overseas markets.
Scott Mackin, who is Denham's co-president and a managing partner as well as head of the firm's power and renewables team, is relocating to London as part of the move. There, he will head up a team of three, comprising director Jens Thomassen, vice president Juergen Heeg and associate Steve Mandel.
Thomassen and Heeg joined Denham late last year to boost the firm's presence in London. In addition to Mackin's London-based team, director Justin DeAngelis will support the power and renewable investments team from New York.
The team has made the move to London to allow Denham to be better seated for investments in overseas markets in the power and renewables industry.
Last April, the firm closed its sixth global energy and resources-focused fund, Denham Commodity Partners Fund VI, on $3bn. The fund had a target of $2.5bn and was announced in July 2011. A month before its final close, Denham Commodity Partners VI backed Spanish solar plant operator Fotowatio Renewable Ventures as part of a $190m funding round.
