CBW launches corporate finance department

UK-based mid-tier accountancy firm Carter Backer Winter (CBW) has launched a new corporate finance department.
The firm stated it had considered expanding its offering to include the service for some time and the current economic outlook made this the ideal time to do so.
Odhran Dodd, formerly a partner at UHY Hacker Young, has been appointed to lead the department. Dodd specialises in the sale of owner-managed businesses, MBOs, MBIs and fundraising. He will be responsible for managing CBW's existing portfolio of clients and attracting new projects.
Dodd expects the CBW corporate finance team to grow as a result of the current appetite for corporate expansion and the high availability of funding.
Last year, CBW merged with Direct Control to offer accounting and financial director services. In August 2013, the firm produced a study of private equity funding in the UK technology sector – the research found that 78% of successful technology, media and telecommunications start-ups had received an equity investment from inception compared with only 7% that received bank loans in the early stages of development.
