Private equity partner key to forward planning
More than a fifth of UK business owners feel a private equity partner is the most useful business partner in planning for the future. The findings come from a survey of 600 UK businesses conducted by Barclays Commercial Bank and the Institute of Directors.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the study also found that businesses with lower turnover are less inclined to plan for departures than their larger counterparts (58% of companies with a turnover of less than £5m feel they do not have an adequate succession plan). This may be down to the fact that smaller companies often need to have most staff focused on operational priorities, with strategy falling down the priority line.
