Octopus Investments has appointed Chris Wade as strategic adviser to its ventures team.
Wade will advise the firm and its portfolio companies on expansion into Asian markets.
He was involved in the introduction of Octopus-backed CertiVox – an encryption and information security business – to Japan-based mobile operator Docomo. Octopus and Docomo recently took part in an $8m series-B round for the London-based company.
Wade is currently a venture capital adviser to the British government's UK Trade and Investment organisation, where he was previously a director for two years. He also has a seat on the board at Octopus's portfolio company UltraSoc and is a partner at European incubator programme Entrepreneur First.
Wade graduated from Leeds University with a degree in physics and chemistry.
