
Terra Firma circling Chaucer
Terra Firma is among potential bidders for listed UK insurance company Chaucer, according to media reports.
The company stated that it had received takeover approaches - its shares subsequently closed 17% higher, valuing Chaucer at around £335m.
Founded in 1922, Chaucer is a specialist insurance and reinsurance underwriting group. It provides the management skills, expertise and capital required to underwrite insurance risks at Lloyd's. Chaucer is already partly private equity-owned, as Pamplona Capital currently holds a 16.27% stake in the listed insurer.
