Stride.VC leads $3.9m seed round for Forward Health
Stride.VC has led a $3.9m seed funding round for healthcare messaging app developer Forward Health.
Albion Capital also took part alongside angel investors including Jay Desai of US-based healthcare communications business Patient Ping and Melissa Morris of healthcare networking app Lantum.
Forward's confidential instant messaging app has been trialled by 5,000 doctors at five hospitals. The company said its technology allows staff to avoid relying on the NHS' inefficient network of pagers and landlines and reduces reliance on less secure apps like WhatsApp.
It is the second funding round for a healthcare communications startup to be announced this week after EQT Ventures took part in a €4.5m round for Amsterdam-based Siilo.
Company
Forward was founded in 2016 by NHS doctors Barney Gilbert and Lydia Yarlott, alongside entrepreneur Philip Mundy. It makes instant messaging software for healthcare professionals. The software is GDPR-compliant and has been formally approved by the NHS. Users need an NHS or Trust email to login.
