BC-backed VetPartners buys Abbey Veterinary Centres
BC Partners-backed VetPartners has bolted on Welsh veterinary practice chain Abbey Veterinary Centres.

VetPartners has acquired four surgeries from Abbey, while Emma and Ben Hynes retain ownership of Abbey Equine Clinic, which remains independent.
The deal is intended to increase VetPartners' presence in Wales, and its share of Europe's farm and equine animal care market.
The consolidated group will have 4,600 employees at 400 sites in the UK.
VetPartners now owns seven Welsh practices: Abbey Veterinary Centres, Milfeddygon Bodrwnsiwn, Robin Lewis Vets, Caerphilly Veterinary Clinic, Park Veterinary Group, Valley Vets and St David's Veterinary Centre.
The transaction comes 10 months after BC acquired the group from Ares Management, Credit Group and August Equity in a deal that was reportedly valued at around £700m.
The GP is invested in VetPartners via BC European Capital X, which held a final close in January 2018 on its €7bn target after two years on the road.
Company
Abbey Veterinary Centres was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in York. The four small animal surgeries being acquired by BC are based in Abergavenny, Tredegar, Brecon and Monmouth.
