
Oaktree invests £200m in RedCat
Oaktree Capital Group has provided RedCat Pub Company, a pub industry investment vehicle, with £200m in funding.
US-based Oaktree is currently investing from Oaktree European Principal Fund V, which closed on $540m in February 2020.
The company will consider acquisitions of individual pubs or pub operators. RedCat plans to partner with licensees, publicans and entrepreneurs to support the recovery of the sector and will look to acquire retail and tenanted pubs across the UK, but with a focus in the east, south-east, and south of the UK, according to a report by industry-focused publication the Caterer.
It is expected that the company will raise an additional £300m in debt, according to the Daily Telegraph.
