
BridgeU raises $2.5m
London-based education startup BridgeU has raised $2.5m in seed funding in a round led by Octopus Investments.
Also participating in the round was Fresco Capital, Seedcamp and individual investors including Jonnie Goodwin and Deborah Quazzo.
The investment will be used to expand the company's core product to support earlier-stage student decision-making and expand the range of post-programme offerings to include alternatives to university, such as apprenticeships and vocational training.
Company
BridgeU operates a platform that uses machine learning techniques to match students with appropriate courses and universities by weighing up academic indicators as well as social and vocational preferences. The platform also helps students throughout the application process, through building CVs and writing essays.
Established in 2013, BridgeU has been adopted by schools and education groups in 16 countries.
People
BridgeU was founded by Lucy Stonehill and Hywel Carver. Rebecca Hunt led the deal for Octopus.
