Albion leads £1.65m investment in InCrowd
Albion Ventures has led a ТЃ1.65m funding round in mobile fan engagement and sports marketing business InCrowd Sports.
The VC was joined by Sky and several angel investors.
Albion had previously worked with InCrowd's founder Aiden Cooney when the VC invested in his former company Opta, a sports data business. The other members of InCrowd's management team come from IMG, and a technology group borne out of the University of Sussex Innovation Centre.
Company
InCrowd develops mobile apps for professional sports clubs, which employ a unique technology developed by a team at the University of Sussex. The technology solves issues around poor connectivity in crowded places and allows phones to share available connectivity, rather than compete for it.
InCrowd's apps offer real-time content, match analysis and interactive games.
The business currently works with 10 football clubs including Middlesbrough and Watford.
The London based company employs less than 10 people.
