Sud Investments leads financing in PneumaCare
Sud Investments has led a £2m round of funding for PneumaCare Ltd, together with a group of existing investors including Cambridge Enterprise, Cambridge Capital Group, Plextek Ltd and members of the Cambridge Angels group.
The funds will be used to accelerate the commercial development of the firm’s PneumaScan product family. The plan is to build a commercial team and take the offering to both the US and Asia.
Company
PneumaCare was founded in 2008 and is based in Cambridge. The company has worked closely with Plextek, one of its investors, to transform 3D motion capture technology, originally developed for the computer game and film industry, into PneumaScan. The product uses light to measure and monitor how deeply and how quickly a patient is breathing and what muscle groups are being used. It achieves the same results as the traditional spirometer but has a number of advantages, the crucial one being that no physical contact is necessary.
People
Ward Hills is the CEO and Bill Mason is the chairman of PneumaCare.
