
KSL acquires Village Urban Resorts from De Vere Group
US private equity house KSL Capital Partners has acquired Village Urban Resorts, a UK-based hotel and leisure company, from the De Vere hotel group.
Following completion of the spinout, Village Urban will invest in new locations, starting with three new resorts in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
KSL stated it was attracted by the broad range of services offered by the company.
Gary Davis, formerly CEO of KSL-backed boutique hotel businesses Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, has been appointed CEO of Village Urban.
According to Sky News, KSL has appointed UBS to lead a review of options for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, with the media outlet suggesting the brands are likely to be sold.
The GP also bought UK hotel and golf resort The Belfry, renowned for its regular hosting of professional golf tournaments including the Ryder Cup, in August 2012.
