FRANCE - Ares Capital opens Paris office
Ares Capital Europe has opened an office in Paris, which will be headed up by former HSBC executive Tyrone Cooney.
Cooney will be responsible for the firm's activities in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. He joins from HSBC, where he was co-head of the leveraged and acquisition finance team for France.
Ares Capital specialises in providing financing for small- and mid-cap leveraged buy-outs, corporate acquisitions and re-financings, as well as selective growth capital transactions. The fund, which has more than EUR 1 billion of committed capital available, seeks to arrange, underwrite and hold investments in all layers of the capital structure from senior debt to minority equity.
Ares also opportunistically purchases debt on the secondary market.
Since the beginning of 2008, the fund has completed over a dozen transactions throughout Europe.
