Invest Europe focuses on reporting and transparency in updated guidelines
Private equity and venture capital association Invest Europe has updated reporting guidelines for GPs in its 2015 Professional Standards Handbook, emphasising transparency and detail in disclosing fees to investors.
The update comes at a time of heated debate between GPs and LPs around the reporting of fees, and the industry's transparency and disclosure standards.
In addition to their focus on transparency, Invest Europe's updated guidelines will encourage additional reporting by GPs on non-financial areas such as ESG and provides advice on improving the clarity of reporting metrics.
Invest Europe's updated handbook was a year in the making, taking input from the organisation's members, including private equity firms, LPs and industry advisers.
While members are not obliged to follow best practice as set out in the Professional Standards Handbook, all Invest Europe members are required to follow the code of conduct set out in the book.
