FRANCE – Colony looks for new investor for PSG
Colony Capital and Charles Villeneuve are seeking new financial investors to acquire Morgan Stanley’s stake in football club Paris Saint Germain.
According to sources, the Abu Dhabi group Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC) could be approaching the club and its offer would meet Villeneuve’s proposals. EIIC assets range between EUR 40-50bn.
The only obstacle to this would be the group’s desire to acquire a 51% stake of the club while only a 33% stake is for sale.
Colony invested EUR 50m in the club back in June 2006 when all three investors wholly acquired the football club. It is counting on the improvements to be carried out at the Parc des Princes stadium to increase the value of the club to around EUR 80-100m.
