DENMARK - Vækstfonden invests DKK 10m into Universal Robots

Vækstfonden invested DKK 7.85m, while Syddansk contributed DKK 1.9m and the newly hired CEO, Enrico Krog Iversern, provided the remaining DKK 250,000. The new capital will finance mass production and distribution of the industrial robot into the Danish and German markets.

Universal Robots was founded in 2005 by Esben Østergaard og Kristian Kassov, together with Syddansk Innovation. The company's robot arm, EasyBot, weighs about 18 kg and will cost approximately DKK 100,000. It is aimed at medium-sized businesses that currently perform packaging tasks manually, with a major advantage being that it does not require connection to a larger system.
