UK - Octopus invests £1.1m into Phase Vision
Octopus Ventures has invested £1.1m into optical inspection solutions manufacturer Phase Vision, in exchange for a significant minority stake in the business.
Leicestershire-based Phase Vision, which was founded in 2002, manufactures optical inspection solutions for dimensional metrology applications. It develops a range of technologies designed for high-speed, three-dimensional shape measurement with micro-scale accuracy. The company specialises in measuring very large industrial items with free-form or curved surfaces, such as ship propellers and aircraft wings, to tighten manufacturing tolerances, increase throughput and reduce waste. Phase Vision's clients include those in the automotive, aerospace, chemical and medical device engineering sectors.
The new capital will be used to bring the company's beta prototype product to market and accelerate its commercial development programme. The commercial release of Phase Vision's product is targeted for mid-2009.
The investment was provided through the Octopus Titan 1,2 and 3 VCTs, Octopus Eureka and the Octopus Investor Group funds.
