
SWEDEN - Carlyle et al. sell MedPointe to Meda for $520m
Swedish-listed pharmaceutical group Meda has agreed to acquire all the shares in US based-MedPointe, owned by The Carlyle Group and other investors. The two majority shareholders of MedPointe, The Carlyle Group and The Cypress Group, will become shareholders in Meda. Their joint shareholding after the transaction has closed will be approximately 6%. The other minority shareholders in MedPointe, Fraizer Healthcare Ventures, Ferrer Freeman & Co and MedPointe’s management have also decided to become shareholders in Meda. MedPointe’s shareholders will receive $520m in cash and 17 500 000 of newly issued Meda shares.
