UK - 3i Infrastructure buys £86m of utilities debt
3i Infrastructure has invested ТЃ86m to buy debt in utilities including Thames Water, Viridian and National Grid Wireless.
The purchases bring 3i Infrastructure close to exhausting the £700m of funds raised in a public offering in 2007. The investor joins a raft of private equity groups that have begun to exploit investment opportunities created by corporate loans trading at discounts to face value.
