KPMG promotes two

KPMG has promoted David Burlison (pictured) to global head of restructuring and Mark Firmin to UK head of restructuring.
Burlison takes over from Philip Davidson who has been promoted to COO of KPMG International, while Firmin replaces Richard Fleming, who has been in the UK head of restructuring role since 2008.
Burlison became a partner at KPMG in 2004, focusing on cross-border restructurings, before taking up his role as head of restructuring and debt advisory in UAE and the Middle East five years ago.
In his new role, Burlison will also oversee KPMG’s UK debtor financial restructuring and distressed debt advisory activities. He studied for qualifications in banking and finance in addition to industrial studies at Loughborough University.
Prior to his role as head of UK regional restructuring, Firmin was KPMG’s northern head of restructuring between 2009 and 2012.
Firmin specialises in advising distressed companies and overseeing insolvency appointments, having worked on transactions including Leeds United Football Club, Discover Leisure and Empire Direct. He became a partner at the firm in 2006.
KPMG has made a number of appointments recently. Last month the firm promoted Sanjay Thakkar to UK head of transactions and restructuring; and appointed director Alex Hartley as head of private equity in the north of England.
