UK - Liverpool Seed Fund invests £250,000 in health screening company
The Merseyside Special Investment Fund's Liverpool Seed Fund has completed an investment of £250,000 in health screening company Gemini Biomedical Ltd.
The financing will be used to bring the company's new pharmacy-based medical screening service HealthTrack to market in the UK. The process involves combining basic information such as height, weight and blood pressure with data obtained from an oral swab test, which collects blood derived fluid found in the gums. The technology replaces existing blood tests and can detect a variety of conditions including HIV and Hepititis. Trials have already proved successful in Dublin and the service will shortly be rolled-out across the whole of Ireland.
