ITALY - Private equity courts Alitalia
According to press reports, the Italian government is considering the possiblity of selling a 20% shareholding in national airline Alitalia to a private equity fund.
Clessidra Sgr, the buyout firm led by Giuseppe Turri, is thought to be one of the interested parties, as well as Texas Pacific Group. The American giant has a considerable track-record in transactions involving airlines, with its first deal ever having been for Continental.
