SWEDEN - Initium et al invest SEK 4.5m into Medfield
A syndicate of investors, comprising Initium, K-Svets Ventures, Salhgrenska Science Park, Innovationsbron and business angels, has completed an investment of SEK 4.5m into Medfield Diagnostics, a medical device company.
Medfield sprung out of Chalmers University in 2005, where the founders had conducted research on the microwave tomography technology. After a period of product development and commercialisation, the company moved into the business incubator facilities at Sahlgrenska Science Park. The company secured a first round of funding in 2007 from Innovationsbron Väst Start-up AB.
Medfield currently collaborates with with Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Clinical Neurophysiology, where a prototype is being tested on humans. The recent capital infusion will help finance these studies.
