UK - ACP leads first funding round for Golden Gekko
Active Capital Partners, a European early-stage investor based in Barcelona, has made an undisclosed investment in Golden Gekko, developers of a new mobile application platform.
Golden Gekko's platform can be used to create sphisticated java applications for marketing purposes and the business has already delivered projects for 15 major customers including Absolut Vodka, Accenture, Arla Foods, Cadburys, Coca-Cola, Novertis, Paramount, Perfetti, TV4 Unilever and Vodafone. The new capital will be used to continue the organic growth of the business, particuarly through a strengthening of the company's infrastructure. Golden Gekko currently has development facilities in Cambodia and in Barcelona and has sales offices in the UK, Sweden and Spain.
Mobile advertising is a rapidly growing market segment, with global revenues of EUR 622m in 2006 and forecasts that this will reach EUR 8bn by 2011.
